Summer school

Since 2020, the Miramare and Trieste Coast Biosphere Reserve and the Julian Alps Biosphere Reserve — the two territories in Friuli Venezia Giulia recognized by UNESCO under the MaB (Man and Biosphere) program — have been organizing the “Paths of Sustainability” Summer Camp for young people living in these unique areas.

For an entire week, about twenty boys and girls from the Julian Alps and the province of Trieste come together to share nature experiences, meet local stakeholders working to implement sustainability in their productive activities, engage in discussions and in-depth sessions with researchers, and enjoy moments of leisure and socializing.

The guiding theme of the Summer Camp — supported by the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia — is the core of the MaB program: the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda and the virtuous practices these territories have embraced to promote a harmonious and peaceful coexistence between people and the environment.
